Detective Irma Rivera and detective Sandy Rubino both worked the mean streets of Manhattan in New York City. The cases they investigated were some of the most heart wrenching cases a detective could be exposed to. Child abuse, rape, sodomy, pedophilia, all of these crimes were a daily occurrence for these detectives. Back then Special Victim's was called Sex Crimes and the more kinder, and gentler name was adapted years later when it became a television show.
