Walter Wasilewski was sworn into the NYPD on July 15th, 1986 and retired October 14th, 2004. He worked the majority of his career in the 46 Precinct in the Bronx. The 46 Precinct covered an area that is a bit larger than one and one quarter square miles. At one time it was deemed the busiest square mile on the face of the earth for its high crime rate.
Of the 20 years PO Wasilewski worked law enforcement for the City of New York, eleven of those years he was actively assigned to the “Street”. The rest of those years were prior non active law enforcement, physical injuries, personal commitments, hardships, etc. During the eleven active years PO Wasilewski personally made in excess of 1200 arrests, and assisted in over 3000 more. These arrests resulted in the seizure of over 130 loaded firearms, the recovery of over $200,000 dollars in USC, hundreds of pounds of marihuana, crack, cocaine and heroin.
