Retired NYPD Lieutenant Jack Cambria, and detective James Shanahan discuss de-escalation of force training and how it is a necessity in todays policing world. In 2006, Jack, along with two personally selected members of his team, Detective Lydia Martinez, and Detective James Shanahan, were dispatched to the U.S. Military Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to conduct hostage negotiation training for members of the United States Joint Task Force. The three were also asked by the Commandant of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to conduct hostage negotiation training for the senior class of cadets, and Jack and James continued doing so for the past eight years prior to their retirements. Lieutenant Cambria, and detective Shanahan are highly in demand in the training world for both their expertise in hostage negotiation and de-escalation of force.
