As a young assistant district attorney, Thomas successfully prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases. As an Army officer serving in Iraq, he confronted the military’s then existing homosexual conduct policy while defending accused soldiers. Following his tour in Iraq, Thomas established himself as one of New York’s preeminent criminal defense attorneys. Thomas’s courtroom success has been chronicled in the New York Times, USA Today and countless other media. Thomas was recently recognized as the first defense attorney in New York City to represent his client at jury trial during COVID. He appears regularly as a legal expert on major news networks, and recently had a lead role as prosecutor in the documentary American Trial: The Eric Garner Story. Thomas continues to serve as a Major in the Army National Guard with the storied Harlem Hell Fighters. Last year he was recalled to active duty for Operation COVID 19, and is now serving as legal officer at the Javits Center vaccine site. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Army Commendation Medal and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
