On today’s episode we are talking about the psychological and sociological attraction that humans have for high profile crimes and we discuss why we think the analysis of those cases don’t really help us to understand them.
Some of the examples we use to highlight our explanation include the recent University of Idaho murders as well as two popular Netflix documentaries called The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker and Madoff: The Monster of Wall Street.
During the episode we also discuss the overuse of trait theory and why it’s not a good indicator of future behavior as well as the “boogeyman theory” and how cognition biases affect our interpretation of events.
